Green-day high-volume overnight call backtest: does it work after costs?

We coded the green-day high-volume overnight call strategy exactly as taught in a public video and ran it on NIFTY weekly, 2017-01 to 2026-10, with real charges. Our test: ₹2.94 L after real costs. The as-taught signal traded as an ATM weekly call made about ₹2.94 L per lot net from 2017 to Oct 2026, with every calendar year positive.

The rules, as taught

Buy at the close when the day closes green and futures volume is above its 3-day average; exit 10–15 minutes after the next open, no stop or target. The video gives no strike or expiry, so we used the ATM weekly call, a 15:24 signal with a 15:25 entry and a 09:25 exit, and NIFTY futures volume.

What the video claims, and what we found

Claim: On the index, 2014–24: about 581 trades, 70% wins, profit factor 2.4.

In index points we got 603 trades, 66% wins and profit factor 2.23 vs their 581, 70.6% and 2.40, so the signal reproduces; the option version is thinner (profit factor about 1.6).
